Your problem is that the WAT Update (KB971033) has been corrupted – possibly by malware.
You need to Uninstall it from the ‘Installed Updates’ listing, and then re-install it after downloading it from the web page - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033
Note that you will need the x64 version of the file.

  • Click Start, type 'cmd' in the Search/Run box, and right click on the CMD icon at the top of the results pane.  Select Run as Administrator.  When the cmd window opens type 'sfc /scannow' at the prompt and hit Enter.  When the scan completes close the cmd window.

If that does not clear the error, try using System Restore to restore your computer to a date before this message appeared.

  • Click on Start, All Programs

In accessories go to command prompt, right click, click run as administrator.

    type in: net stop cryptsvc

press enter & wait for service to stop.

    type in: ren catroot2 catrootold

    press enter

    reboot

then try Windows Updates again - it will probably take a while to scan for updates. Uncheck all, then just select the KB971033 update for install, and see what happens.

That looks better – all you should need to do now is go and manually validate the machine, to clear the remaining (highlighted) error message
When it passes, you will be offered MSE and IE9 – you don’t have to take them!
