Will not install on a new installation of Vista 64 w/ updates .. error code: 0003-8000-4005. Unsupported OS? Retail Package does not state anything about not running on a 64 bit OS. I hope you can help fix this.

Install by going to http://onecare.live.com to get the latest bits. You'll benefit by being able to run in trial mode for up to 90 days. When the nags about subscribing start to annoy you, use the subscribe link in OneCare to activate with your LiveID and select the option to activate with a retail PIN or Key. Use the key from inside the box.

I should add that you are probably using a version 1.5 CD. That version only ran on 32 bit Vista (and XP). The latest bits work on Vista 64 ad your retail key will activate the subscription just fine.

Have been running Live care on my 5 yr old machine running Windows XP pro (here after referred to as "old one"). Just bought new machine to replace the old one also running XP Pro, SP3, but it is based on Intel's Core 2 Quad Processor (hereafter referred as "new one") ...am using XP on new one because our Point of Sale program is only XP based...
Will Windows Live care run on the new one?

As long as it is XP 32 bit Pro or Home, yes, it will work fine.
