Status for a Case? RRS feed

  • First, I'll say that I'm new to CRM - so this is a question just looking for general insight.

    What all happens pertaining to a case's "Status"?  I'm currently using a field for my cases' "Stage," which will tell me if it's in a "Closed" status.  Is there any reason not to use this status for all of my filtering views and queries, or is Status used for more than what's visible?

  • There is no reason not to use a customized status. You could do all your filters and conditions with your own stage as well. One issue may occur: On each form you have some buttons on the ribbon to change the status of the case (for example). When you use a custom state (stage), this buttons do not have a meaning. So, if you want you could create new ribbon buttons and use them (visual ribbon editor). One more thing, the case resolution if you use your own stage is not usable. When you use the built in state, you could benefit the case resolution also.
