Hello atzlan22,
Does your Dell OptiPlex GX 240 computer have a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) for Windows? If so, please tell us the version and edition of Windows listed on the CoA. Does the CoA also have "Dell" printed on it? (Don't post the product key!)

Hello atzlan22,
Your Dell OptiPlex GX 240 computer has a nongenuine installation of XP Pro. It's nongenuine because it is a widely pirated and now blocked Volume Licensing product Key, and such an installation of Windows XP Pro is only allowed to be used on a computer that is associated with the larger organization (such as a business, educational institution, or governmental agency) that might have a Volume Licensing Agreement with Microsoft.
Because the computer still has a Certificate of Authenticity for Windows 2000 Professional, it is still licensed to run W2K, so one option (as Noel mentioned) would be to acquire a Dell OS Reinstallation disc for W2K and install it on the computer. That would put the original genuine Operating System back onto the computer, making it Genuine once again.
Another option is to purchase a WGA Kit. Click on the Learn More Online links that you are seeing to be taken to a page where you can order directly from Microsoft a WGA Kit. The Kit consists of a new Genuine product key for Windows XP Pro emailed to you, that you may be able to use immediately, and a follow up mailing of a genuine XP Pro installation disc for future use. These will "genuine-ize" your computer's installation of Windows.
