CRM: Opening a pcAnywhere connection using javascript RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to open a pcAnywhere remote connection from a button within CRM, the code below works ok if you run the command manually from a cmd line but not from CRM, it comes up with a javascipt error but the error is blank.

    Any ideas what else i need to try? I've gone through all the IE settings but and even dropped the security to low to see if it makes a difference

    Thanks

    var shell = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
    if (shell != null) {
        shell.Run("C:\\Program Files\\Symantec\\pcAnywhere\\awrem32.exe z:\\CRMTest.chf");
    }

  • I believe WScript.Shell isn't marked as safe for scripting, so you'd have to allow IE to run ActiveX not marked as safe for scripting.  The setting can be found at Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > Custom Level.
