Corporate laptop show office 2007 not geniune

Question
-
I have a company laptop with office 2007 which has suddenly started saying the copy is not genuine. I know the copy is genuine through our partnership subscription to MSDN because I'm a sysadmin with access rights to the partnership. I don't know why it says it's not genuine or why, even when connected to the company network it still authenticates as valid. But the problem persisits and I'm getting reports from other latop users that the same thing is happening to them. What the deal?

Hello docjag,

Your HP Pavilion laptop has several installations of office family products.
Expression Web is no longer a supported product so its status is not evaluate by Office Genuine Advantage.
Your installation of Visio Professional 2007 is reporting as a genuine volume licensing installation. Presumably this product is installed under your MSDN subscription.
Your installation of Office Enterprise 2007 is reporting as a volume licensing installation that was done with a now-blocked Volume Licensing Product Key. A blocked product key is a product key that was at one time a valid key issued under a valid Volume Licensing Agreement, but because the key may have been lost, stolen, or compromised to the internet, of if the Volume Licensing Agreement is no longer in effect, the key has been blocked from further use by Microsoft.
Your installation of Office Ultimate 2007 is reporting as not yet activated.
My suggestion would be to use a keyfinder utility like the Magical Jellybean Keyfinder to extract the product key used for Office Enterprise 2007 and compare it to your presumably valid MSDN key. If the keys are different for some reason, you can may be able to change the product key back to your valid MSDN key using the steps in this MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/895456 If the keys match, then you need to contact Microsoft to find out why your MSDN key has been blocked.
You also need to address the not activated installation of Office Ultimate 2007. Along with having an Office installation installed with a blocked VLK on the computer, having a not activated Office installation will also cause the OGA Notifier to report that Office is nongenuine. So, if it comes to pass that you have to uninstall the nongenuine Office Enterprise 2007, you need to either activate or uninstall Office Ultimate 2007 in order to keep the OGA Notifier from displaying nongenuine notices regarding Office.

Hello docjag,
Please provide a fresh report from the computer that now has only Office Ultimate 2007 installation that is generating the nongenuine notices.
Note that uninstalling Office does not always remove existing Office license files, so it could be that the previous installation of the nongenuine Office is still generating the conditions that the OGA Notifier is reading as a nongenuine Office installation. If that's the case, then the Methods in this MS KB almost always correct the situation (usually running the MS FixIt in Method 3): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895

Okay, I took one of our laptops and tried uninstalling everything envolving any Office product. I then installed ONLY the Office 2007 Ultimate. The activation when through perfectly, but guess what still remains? The same invalid product belonging to a big corporation warning. We are the gold partner that is being blocked and accepted at the same time. Any other ideas? You guys have my corporate info and email. If you don't want to make the answer public, that's fine. Just contact me and let me know how to resolve this. I already have a conference call monday for a partnership project. maybe I'll complain there and see why no one seems to know why our laptops fail and desktops work.Friday, January 29, 2010 10:05 PM
