PWA2010 - User Synchronication (Add Operation) Operations for Project Web App App Root Site and Project Sites RRS feed

  • Question

  • I set up a Category for Archived Projects to hide closed project from my main Project Center view.  Anytime I have to 'unarchive' a project, the Queue fills up with the below Job Types (hundreds) and anything that goes into the Queue afterwards has to wait (upwards of 15+ minutes) for these jobs to finish processing.  Eventually, most of these "User Synchronization..." items return the Job State=Cancelled.  Anyone know why?

"User Synchronication (Add Operation) Operations for Project Web App App Root Site and Project Sites" and "User Synchronication (Delete Operation) Operations for Project Web App App Root Site and Project Sites".

  • Hi Kathy

Anytime you change any permission set or Group or catgeory or create a new user, the Synchronization process is invoked and it syncs the project web app root site and the sub sites (workspaces), and it can be really slow if you have lots of users, huge amount of time is more likely if your category settings mean that virtually all users can access all projects – more permissions to sync :(

Now Queue Processing also depends on the resources, please go through the queueing system details http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197395(office.12).aspx

Best Practice to troubleshoot queue issue : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc627258(office.12).aspx

Also be cautioned, at times when there is a large User sync happening - SQL deadlock may occur and all you users might get locked out, check here : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brismith/archive/2009/04/17/project-server-2007-wss-sync-issues-error-access-denied.aspx

    Hope this helps

  • I was able to resolve the "User Synchronication (Add Operation) Operations for Project Web App App Root Site and Project Sites" messages in the Queue and emails by performing a manual synchronization for every project SharePoint site.  Don't know why this cured the problem, but it did.

Open PWA, select Server Settings, select Project Sites.  Select each project one-by-one, select Syncronization.
