Windows 7 and synctoy 2.1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I've tried to install version 2.1 on my windows 7 laptop (on which I have version 2.0 working Ok) but install fails

"Component Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components has failed to install with the following error message:
"A fatal error occurred during the installation of Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components."

The following components were not installed:
    - Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Provider Services

The following components failed to install:
    - Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components"

Has anyone encountered this and found a solution?

    Thanks
    Tom

  • I saw a few reports of such issue, but I could not help to repro it. I guess, it most possible caused by mix of OS and MSI installation issues.
As the error showed you need to install Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Provider Services and  Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components. These two components are dependencies for syncToy.

Try to uninstall them(as list on below) and re-install syncToy 2.1:

    -  Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components
    -  Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Provider Services

If your installation problem still could not get resolved, try to re-image your OS. Then your problem, definitly will be resolved.
