Validation Issue after installing GAMES RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Dear Microsoft,

I recently installed games on my computer. Warcraft III Frozen Throne, Virtual Villagers I, O2Jam Philippines, Philippines Ragnarok Online. Suddenly, when I open O2Jam, a pop-up showed saying that Windows Aero is not working. I tried to click the link said on the pop-up. The link went to a website on microsoft that requires validation of windows. Now after validating my windows, it said that it didnt pass the test. I know that my uncle bought my windows vista legitimately. Since the time I receive my laptop, this is my first time of validating my windows. Please help me solve this problem. From what I read from the recommended solutions, a game maybe the cause of the failure of the validation. Please help me Microsoft!

    Hi angel37,

" Is it because that windows vista is not compatible with the games I installed"

No, it is because Vista isn't compatible with the older versions of GameGuard that come with those games. But the maker of GameGuard is aware of the issue and has updated it's software to be compatable. The problem is that each game maker must publish a patch to update their own game to the Vista compatable version of GameGuard.

My suggestion to you is to check each game's website and see if there are any patchs for the games, that you own that have GameGuard. I am not familiar with most of the games you have listed, but I would assume that most (if not all) would have a game patch to upgrade to the compatible version of GameGuard. (I know for sure that MapleStory is now compatible...some people in my office currently play it, on Vista).

    Thank you,

  • Hi Angel37,

The kind of issue that you describe may be caused by software (not just games) that is incompatible with Vista. To bet a better idea of the issue, would you download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue" click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.

    Thank you,

    Dear Sir,

I just uninstalled all of my Games then restarted my PC. After that I tried to validate again my windows vista. Then it was a success. Is it because that windows vista is not compatible with the games I installed?

Here is the Diagnostic Report after I uninstalled my Games.

Is there any way I can play that games on windows vista?

Its better on windows xp because I can play normally the Games that is not working here.

The games that I removed are all games that have nProtect GameGuard.

Philippine Ragnarok Online, O2Jam Philippines, MapleStory Global - all have this GameGuard thing.

  • Dear Darin Smith,

Thanks for the answer and help. Maybe, I'll just ask for the updates/patches to the game's websites. Its not the game, but the GameGuard that is not compatible, from what I understand.

    Thanks again!
