Custom anchors example RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there anywhere I can get custom anchors example using a SQL server 2008 database on the server and SQL Server 2008 Express database on the client.  It needs to use disconnected tracking of changes and not the built in change tracking of SQL Server 2008.

  • Can you not just use the SqlSyncProviders? you can find a walkthrough in the docs.

or you may want to look at the approach here: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/sync/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=1200

  • if, by "custom anchors", you refer to some customerized syncAnchor (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.synchronization.data.syncanchor(v=SQL.110).aspx_), then the answer is NO. this concept is only for the hub-spoke cases ( e.g. the dbserversyncprovider to sqlceclientsyncprovider ) and the client side is only with SqlCE, for the offical releases.

the Sqlexpress client provider sample ( as JuneT shared above) serves a purpose to show how would a client side provider can be wrote. it is set to a deprecated stage and we would recommend it for production usages.

as JuneT stated, any reason the sqlsyncProviders cannot provide what you need to sync the sql server to the sqlexpress ?
