Hard Drives RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've just had a WHS2011 system built.  The OS is on a SSD with the data to be kept on 4 - 2TB drives in a RAID5 configuration.  The Drive Manager sees the RAID array as "Drive 0" and it was partitioned into 2 partitions of 2TB and 3.5TB.  It would allow me to format the first partition (2TB) as a simple drive, but wouldn't let me do anything with the remaining partition.  Any suggestions?

  • The easy thing is to remove the partitions (clean the "disk"), then let Windows Home Server manage the disk for you. It will partition the array into multiple 2 TB chunks, and one chunk that's less than 2 TB.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
