I have an MSI U135 netbook with Windows 7 Starter. I have created a Windows 10 Home (32 bit) DVD and have tried to upgrade to Windows 10. However, it has failed many times. It gets to "Installing Windows 10", but then reboots (I can see a "Blue
Screen of Death" briefly, but not long enough to read the error). It almost installed once, but gave error 0xC1900101-0x2000C "The installation failed in the SAFE-01 phase with an error during APPLY_IMAGE operation", and rolled back to Windows
7 Starter.
I suspect the Seagate hard drive is failing, so purchased a replacement and installed Windows 10 from the DVD without any problem. However, the Win7 Starter Product Code is not accepted (error code 0xc004f050) and Win10 is not authenticated.
How can I authenticate, as I should be eligible for the free upgrade?
