I started a open source project to develop a navigation aid for the visually impaired -
http://navigationaid.codeplex.com/ . I need to take two critical decisions now.
1) What should be the input device - Stereo camera or Camera with Laser Range finder or anything else. It should be affordable for a common man.
2) Which is the ideal algorithm for object segmentation, which should work in a smartphone. Need to consider the limited processing power of smartphone.
