Windows 7 Ultimate detected as illegal RRS feed

  • Question

  • In March 2011 I purchased via Amazon a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate for use on my laptop that was running Windows Vista Ultimate.  The package stated that it was factory sealed - there were disks for both 32 bit and 64 bit.  I successfully upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate in March 2011 and have been running my applications in conjuction with Microsoft Essentials ever since. That was until today December 20th, 2012.  Now I get a message saying that my Windows 7 is illegal and my screen has changed from a blue to a black background.  I have tried to re-enter the product key as I did orignally but it said that it was invalid.  In fact from the many times I tried it I recall one of them stating that this key was already in use.  By me I presume.

Who can I contact in Microsoft to sort this problem out.

  • To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012)

    Once downloaded, run the tool.

Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.

Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post. (please do not edit the report.)
