Feature Requests For Hyperlapse Pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • Firstly - great job ! Take my money.

    Secondly -

    1. Please add an option to fill in the black gaps with interpreted images from previous and subsequent frames rather than cropping, like Gunnar Thalin's Deshaker does.

    2. Please let me export to a codec of my choosing (will be HuffyUV or Lagarith).

Lastly, a suggestion.  Activity modes or an additional level of stabilisation.  For example, in my cycling video (handlebar mounted GoPro wide mode 1280x720 60fps) hyperlapsed at 8x, it is super-smooth, like moving through DOOM without any view bob.  However at 4x there is some distracting (comparatively) side-to-side movement which is due to the app happening to pick frames which are consistently when my handlebars were on my right, then (due to some sudden movement derailing the image algorithm a little, I guess) switching to matching frames when the handlebars were on my left.  If I could tell the app "cycling mode", perhaps it could watch out for this, and try to choose centre frames or favour one side over the other,

I wonder if some kind of user-intervention interface might help stabilise videos in keeping with their content - kind of like Panavue Image Assembler's point-matching photo stitch method.

  • My money is still ready and waiting ! However, I have another feature request :-)

I just tried to make my "bike around the river" movie, which requires sections to be played at 1x, 4x and 8x.  At 8x some good stuff is missed out, and at 1x and 4x the movie is too long.  So I tried cutting together a movie from 1x, 4x and 8x versions, but what I found is that a) the 4x and 8x versions are cropped and the lens shape is altered, and b) the sped-up versions don't always land on the same frame, so it's difficult to find a spot where you can change speed without a noticeable jump in the movie.

Please implement a facility to select sections of the timeline to be hyperlapsed at different rates of frame acceleration, and make the transition between them smooth (ie one selection ends on the frame that another starts on, so that onscreen motion is consistent).

    Thanks :-)

  • I'd like to add some requests in here, too.

For me, the bigger request would be the ability to choose a batch of videos to turn into one Hyperlapsed video.  I'm currently trying to take over 25 hours of dashcam videos and Hyperlapse them, but since there are 308 different five-minute videos, I need to concatenate them first.  However, there were processing issues with the big concatenated file, so I split it into three 8h20m videos, one of which had a similar problem, so I split that into smaller files.  I feel like if coding where done for Hyperlapse to concatenate them all at the end, it might be able to detect which file is the problem file and address it there.  It would save lots of troubleshooting when things go wrong, and would make the whole process a lot smoother if it were to have actually worked.

The second (more trivial) request would be to specify a desired output length, and have it solve for the acceleration factor from the desired length.  I say "trivial" because it's easy enough to calculate manually, which makes me think that it shouldn't be difficult to implement.

  • Would like to turn N distinct videos into N hyperlapse videos
by batch processing vs. one at a time.

I like the above option, e.g. the output is one video, too.

  • Please do this... it makes it trivial to allow recorded video comments from subjects with a quick return to hyperlapse.

A great addition to creative movie making.
