How to set same date for each user apart from their time zone? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using Dynamics CRM 2011 and I've a Date of Contract field in Contacts with the format of Date Only. Now, I want each user to see same date apart from their time zone. So far, setting same time zone for each user and adding an offset of 12 hours to date are tried but they are not considered as the best solution.

Any suggestion will highly be appreciated.

  • It will be better to show value by using javascript on load, and show the data in UTC format.

Hope this helps. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Santosh Bhagat If this post answers your question, please click "Mark As Answer" on the post and "Vote as Helpful"

  • Hi Ali,

This is a common issue and the best solution I've seen so far is to have a plugin setting the date as the date you want and the time to 12 (noon) in UTC timezone. This way the date you will see when you have a date only field will be correct in most timezones. Unless you have people sitting in the very far western ones (Before the date line) it will work. I Believe that if you show the date in UTC format by onload scripting you will transform the datetime saved to UTC which might end up on the wrong date.

In short, plugin running on create and update of contract, pre state. If there's a contract date change set it to same date as input and 12.00 as the time and make sure it's saved in UTC.
