One of my clients gets daily critical alert "one or more important Windows Services are not running - Windows Server Providers B" RRS feed

  • Question

  • The machine is the latest Apple MacBook Air running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate. Every day I get this message that I can clear by using the alert viewer on the client machine only (or more likely the laptop needs to be on to resolve it).  When the laptop resumed this evening (not sure why it was not sleeping) I had a warning that the Launchpad service had stopped, also when the laptop started I then got another critical message saying that the backup service had stopped. I see that last night's backup of this machine failed.

I do not want to waste your time if it is thought to be a very specific issue with running W7 on Mac hardware. It has worked with WHS v1 of course.

    Many thanks,

    Ian

  • it’s actually not that specific.  Lots of people run Windows 7 on the Macbook.  Stellar OS and pretty hardware!  ;o)  Please do file the bug.

Could you please file a bug on Connect ?
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Does not appear to be Mac only. This evening had the exact same error on  a win 7 pro 32 bit. Stated 3 services not running on the Dashboard but on checking all of the named services were running fine on the client.. The services were Windows Update, Windows Defender and struggling to remember but think it was the Security Centre. Will file the bug on connect and add the ID here shortly.  Bug Id 558332
