subbcrition problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had 3 computers with one care/bought a 4th and a $9.99 version of onecare - I used my same hotmail address.  When I activated it only gave me a subscribtion untill 3/9/08 instead of 12/25/08.

Help - what can I do?

And - is there a phone # I can call to Microsoft?

  • Your subscription is tied to a single LiveID (your Hotmail address) for 3 computers. When you activated the 4th copy with the same LiveID used for you original subscription, you added a 4th PC to the subscription. You have to un-install on the 4th PC and reinstall, then activate with a different LiveID and use the retail key for the second subscription. At this time there is no way to purchase a license for additional PCs on the same initial subscription and you can only have one active 3 PC subscription for a single LiveID.

  • Mr. Boots, does this mean that the gentleman will have to purchase a fourth subscription at full price under the different Live ID?

  • No, he already has a retail key for a second subscription that can be used to activate. With the second subscription, PC number 4 through 6 are covered.

  • Thanks for the response.

I have decided to go with Windows Live OneCare for my systems and I wanted to make sure I understood the subscription process.

I like the way OneCare allows you to track your network computers from one computer.  That's nice when you are wireless.
