Email from Workflow to Contacts associated with Entitiy RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are a delivery company.

I have set up a custom entity called "Route". There is a 1:N relationship between Route and Contacts

On the contact form I have a lookup field to make the association between a contact and their assigned delivery route.

I would like to send a "Route Reminder Email" to all of the contacts associated with each route via a workflow.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Regards,

    Brian

  • Hello Andriy!

Thank You for your time assisting me with this question.

The code that you mentioned above looks to be very close to what I want to accomplish.

However, I am having difficulty in understanding what protions of the code are the variables that I need to define in order to accomplish my goal.

Would you be kind enough to assist me a bit further?

    Regards,

    Brian

  • Hello bkrenzin.

There are many ways to accomplish your goal. If you specify little more about you exact scenario then it will be more easy for one to guide you. But, In shorter you can do following.

    1. Create a Workflow Through CRM Workflow Designer. Bind that to the event which will initiate this workflow to Run. For instance you can bind this workflow to run whenever Route Changes at any contact. So It will run on the Update Event of Contact and in fields list you can select new_route.

    2. In Action List of your workflow. Select "Create" Action and in entity choose "Email" activity and set the Email activity fields. i.e. To might be Contact's Email address, you can simply sets the values.

    3. At the end, add action to send Email imediately.

I hope it will guide you some way.

    Regards.

  • Brian you should do following:

    1. Change Team property to Route property

    2. Use value of this lookup to query all associated contacts from CRM.
