mse updated daily getting invalid product messeges RRS feed

  • Question

  • i purchased the product new, have the box and key#. I have been to the validation site and my version of windows xp home is valid and genuine.  the test provided a report, i just dont know where its stored. I am periodically receiving messages that pop up saying (paraphrasing)  "your version of windows may be counterfiet, .....and another saying youR version of windows will stop working in 29 days"., again this is paraphrasing, and im past the 29 days.  i have screen shots in paint. the messages are not showing in history of mse, and the icon in tray is green during the messages.

nothing else is picking up the warnings either, but if windows is genuine why woulds i get the warning? ? the warnings say microsoft security essentials at the top and the box is amber, which has previously been an indicator of a problem ( red being severe) but when i scan, i get nothing.

I also noted that the mse window as it appeared upon clicking the icon in the tray, was appearing "extreme" in its normal color, i had a remote session with my isp, and they determined the warnings to be fake, but had no explanition about the color of mse's border, but they described it ,  as if the resolution had increased by10, i was given a reference number and phone number to call to obtain info possibly later this week, upon uninstalling some programs i rarley use the mse box returned to a normal color of blue, green and gray.

what is my next step?  i see other have had similar problems but not exact.

windows xp, home sp3, updated daily, other well known stand alone ware detectors.

First time I've seen this error in XP!
I suspect that it's the same root cause as a similar error set in Win7 - the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers.
try downloading and installing them from here -
Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

  • It seems to have cured the problem :)

I've never tried installing them in XP, so don't know what the 'normal state' is - but they usually just sit there, like most drivers.
