Windows Live / Hotmail all at sea - not

    Question

  • I usually cruise for vacations. I do not take my laptop (not that it would probably make any difference) but use the ship's internet cafe. Logging on, a security systems says 'You have not logged in on this pc before we need to send a security code to your mobile or other registered email address'. The ship's emails probably go via satellite to the HQ in Miami - over 3000 miles from my home and laptop - and thence to the addressee. However, being at sea, I do not have a mobile signal to receive a code until we get to a port and my other email accounts cannot be accessed remotely. MS Support suggested I 'reach-out to friends, relations or colleagues'. Not only do I not know what 'reach-out' means but I have no friends, relations or colleagues with me on board the ship. When at sea, it's me, my Live account or nothing. This didn't use to happen, but did in May just gone and unless I can find a way out of this fix, it will happen again in October. Or can someone suggest another email provider that does not do this?
