My copy of Windows 7 is also invalid RRS feed

  • Question

  • After a YEAR of use, I just started getting a message that MY copy of Windows 7 is also invalid. And I did not get mine from Amazon... I got it from my MSDN subscription. So am I to believe that Microsoft is selling pirated copies of their own software?  There is obviously some kind of problem with their validation. And this IS annoying.

(FYI... I just called the number given on the failed validation screen and was told I need to call my MSDN subscription account, but they are only open M-F. I just genned another key, and it is failing too... this SUCKS!!! Something is clearly screwed up at Microsoft.)

  • Hello Bill2010,

There has been a massive abuse of MSDN and Bizspark accounts by software pirates.  Just have a look at the sticky post here:  http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/a2444f34-0aff-4f29-a8ac-67e28b0c0285

You can also peruse this forum and note that probably 50% of posts are from people who bought standalone product keys from unscrupulous sellers, or perhaps well-done counterfeit product, where the product keys turn out to be from hacked or dishonestly managed MSDN/Bizspark accounts.

Legitimate MSDN and Bizspark account holders should contact their account concierge if they run into any issues such as their product keys being identified as Blocked.

I am a BizSpark partner and upgraded my Dell Windows Vista laptop with Windows 7 the moment it was made available on MSDN. It was successfully activated at that time and has been validated numerous times since when doing various downloads from Microsoft. Out of the BLUE it started throwing up this message today saying my copy of Windows 7 (that I got from MICROSOFT) is not genuine.

What in God's name is going on up there in Seattle? How do you screw up something so basic like this? You're threatening to shut off my laptop!!!

    This REALLY pisses me off.
