Can't Reactivate OneCare after upgrade to 64bit! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had initially upgraded my machine from Windows XP x86 to Vista x86 and then decided that I wanted to take advantage of the 64-bit processor that my machine had, so I reinstalled Vista Ultimate using the 64bit disk. When I went to reinstall my Windows Live OneCare I found that the old x86 edition would not work for the 64bit. I had recently purchased OneCare from Microsoft using their online purchasing. I then found that there was a Beta that was able to run on 64bit Vista and so I downloaded that. However, I am now unable to activate my Beta using my subscription that I had purchased with x86. Is this a known issue or did Microsoft lose my subscription information?

Please help as OneCare cost me $50 and I would really like to use it!

    Thanks

  • You cannot activate the beta with your subscription LiveID. However, rumor has it that the 2.0 version will be released in November. When it is released, you will need to uninstall the beta you are running now and install the released code - and then you will be able to activate with your subscription LiveID.
