Windows 7 suddenly not genuine.

Question
-
I built this computer and purchased this copy of Windows from Tiger Direct. It has been running for a couple of years or maybe more. Recently it has started popping up "This computer is not running genuine Windows". Below is the report from the diagnostic tool. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt
NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVConce complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report.
Note that this may delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

The common cause for these mismatches is a faulty Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver
Download and install the latest version from....
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730
you want this one: iata_enu.exe
reboot then run another MGADiag report and post the results.

Thanks for your reply.
iata_enu.exe would not install. It said "This computer does not meet the minimum requirments for installing the software"

see if this one will work

Same thing

It looks your computer was from an OEM and you bought it premade from a company (like Lenovo, Asus, etc). Often the Intel RST driver for your specific model of computer is included in their support downloads. Try having a look at their support/driver downloads and see if you can reinstall your RST driver there.

Still doing it. Is RST an Intel only thing? This is an AMD chip. I just reloaded the Asus moutherboard drivers from the CD to see what that does.Sunday, March 31, 2013 1:43 AM

Please do the rename I suggested in my earlier post - that cures the problem in most such cases as yours.
