Internet Explorer not working RRS feed

  • A while ago, I had come here for a similar reason, but it had just gotten worse.

    The following message has come up for a few programs but particularly Internet Explorer.

    Internet Explorer has stopped working
    Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.
    => Check online for a solution and close the program
    => Close the program

    It appeared once in a while, and Internet Explorer would close without notice frequently.
    I thought maybe it was because my IE was out of date, so i upgraded to IE 8.
    The next day, I turned on my computer to find the message (above) had come up straight away when I opened IE and closed it straight away.

    The following message was also included.

    Is there a way to fix this without restoring the whole system?

    P.S. - why does my IE work when i say it didnt?
    im using someone elses computer =)
