Windows 7 on multiple computers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok, after reading different threads, I now realize that my one copy of Windows 7 upgrade (from Vista) will only work on one computer, not two.  The problem is that I installed Windows 7 on the 2nd machine, using the Windows 7 upgrade that I had already installed on computer #1.   If I go buy Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade, can I use the product key from that on computer #2?  Will it work even though I already installed Windows 7 with my original copy that I used on computer 1?

    Any help is appreciated.

  • As long as you purchase a retail copy of the same edition you can replace the product key without having to reinstall anything.  Press WinKey+Pause to bring up the System Properties page and scroll to the bottom.  Click the Change Product Key link and enter the new PK.  The Product Key is all that matters, not the dvd.
