    telephone activation.
     Click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type
    SLUI   4
    and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions - but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you.

It's less hassle on the phone - and there's no way to do it online once you get a knock-back from the system such as you had.

The phone lines are usually toll-free, and there is no charge for the service.
(since you are in the UK, there is a toll-free line, and a paid-for line. Mobile charges depend on the carrier, but it usually costs me less than £2 to do an operator-assisted activation, or around 75p for a automated one - both using the 0800 number via O2)

Use the Toll-free number without the leading 0 (or at least that's how it works for me on O2) - you get charged fixed rate by the carrier for that (seems to be between 11 and 20p/min for Virgin Mobile, depending on your tariff). A simple call shouldn't take more than 3 minutes, and if you get handed off to tech service (I can't see why you should), try asking them to call back  - after you have a direct line number and a name and incident number.

?dfs replication? - it's the first time you've mentioned that!
Since your WGA problem is now solved, you'd be better going to the Answers forums for assistance with that.

  • the acer brand is rubbish my one kept on breaking all th time hopefully this one will b better any idea? it is an hp
    Friday, August 5, 2011 3:19 PM
  • I've had no problems with my Acer 8930G in the 2+ years I've had it, apart from the Blu-Ray drive dying early on (an unfortunately common problem with BD drives at the time).

Buying the cheapest computer from any manufacturer is a bit of a lottery - they are made to a price, rather than a specification, and the parts can be flaky as a result.

HP are no different in this respect to any other manufacturer, but they do at least have a reasonably good rep.
