Windows 2003 File Server Resource Manager!!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a Windows 2003 machine and I would like to enable some quotas on some user's folders that are on a share drive. I could set the quota on the disk but not on folders. As I understood, Windows 2003 R2 has that capability, but an upgrade from 2003 to 2003 R2 is out of the question right now in my environment, althogh we have R2 on hand.

My question is: It would be possible, on a Windows server 2003 machine to add the R2's "File Server Resource Manager" feature? And, if I'm lucky enough and it's possible, how exactlly can I do that?

Through Add/Remove Windows Components is not possible, because Windows Server 2003 does not have that option under Management and Monitoring Tools.

    I would appreciate any imput.

    Thank you.

I am looking for the exact same scenario. We have 2003 sp2 installed but we cannot consider an upgrade to R2 at this time and would like a form of file filtering
