New subscription in August for Windows Live Care RRS feed

  • Question

  • My subscription is up in August.  I keep getting messages that Microsoft will no longer permit me to use your program and that I should change over to theirs.  Is this true?  May I still use your program? I use Windows XP.

  • No, when your subscription expires, you will need to remove OneCare as it will cease working.

  • My subscription doesn't end until May 19th, 2010. WLOC says I still have 30 days. Did MS end WLOC as of May 1st? If so, do I get a prorated refund? Why is it saying I am at risk now when it doesn't end for 30 more days? There seems to be no other problem other than it wants me to look at the Windows Security Essentials. I have been using WLOC since it's inception and it shouldn't end until everyone's subscription is at end.

  • For 30 days prior to your subscription expiration OneCare shows you at risk due to the pending expiration. You are still protected. You can continue to use it until the actual expiration, when it will fall into reduced functionality mode.

See the end of life post linked in my previous reply for more information.
