Future of Dynamics Forums? How long the Dynamics Forums might stay?

    Question

  • Very Recently, without even a word, http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/gp/threads , this Dynamics GP Forum has been set to Read-only. Atleast, A courtesy, We should be having a message. Nothing. I raised a support why this was done? The following is the reply.

"We have received a reply from the owner of the website informing us that he has objections from the product team and online community as this forums are disintegrating MVP's and partners to different web sites.

Product team is running Forums on http://community.dynamics.com/default.aspx  and they want to continue to do so. He will be adding announcements in the forums to redirect everyone to http://community.dynamics.com/default.aspx. "

We're also having various Partner Forums for Dynamics. Does this mean one fine day, the moderator of the forum locks the forum and goes off as well?

What is the future of the Dynamics Forums in particular? Are they going to stay here in this Microsoft Forums? Truly Speaking, I liked this Forums Design and performance in terms of speedy refresh of pages and so on which is not the case with the so called Community Forums.

  • Ouch, disintegrating MVPs.  But yeah, it is not uncommon for groups inside Microsoft to opt out of these forums.  Good examples are forums.asp.net and forums.iis.net.  Many MVPs have given up too, preferring sites like Stackoverflow.com or anything that has a post editor that doesn't mangle or lose your post.

The best way to find out what the future holds for the Dynamics forums is to ask that question at their forum site.
