  • Hello veggie265,

Your Sony computer currently has a nongenuine installation of Windows XP Pro.  It is nongenuine because the product key used to do the installation is Invalid, meaning it was never an official product key issued by Microsoft.

Please look on your Sony computer for a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) for Windows.  If there is one, then the Sony is almost certainly still licensed to run the version and edition of Windows listed on the CoA.  Please visit the product page for your Sony http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=PCGFRV25&LOC=3 to see if you can order a set of recovery/reinstallation discs so you can put the original Genuine Windows installation back onto the computer.
