No Data Partition on the Primary Drive, possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since I would be using a old and small 40GB drive for the primary disk in the system. Is that possible to set it up so that no data partition is create on the primary disk?

That case all data would reside on the second and third disk for easier management?

  • The minimum size for your system disk is 80 GB. When you install Windows Home Server, it will automatically partition this disk into two partitions: a 20 GB system partition and a (disk - 20 GB) primary data partition. While it's possible to interrupt the process to change the partition sizes, it's unsupported, and as far as I know it's not possible to remove the primary data partition from the system disk and move it to another disk.

So to answer your question, no you can't move the data partition elsewhere.
