  • Question

  • I received a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be Microsoft & telling me my computer was about to crash & they would help me.  They had me go to computer, & view events showing 2251 errors & yellow alerts.  I told them I had to talk to my boss first and asked them to give me a number to call back at.  The number they gave me is 347-468-9587.  I did not give them any information but am worried they were able to get into my computer over the phone line and steal information.

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Zandra Griffiths

  • BEWARE .... This is a scam. If you have typed in a URL they may have given you, then your PC is already compromised. If this is the case, have your PC checked through a reputed person/dealer. If you have not typed in the URL, then you are possibly safe. Do not send money in any case. Microsoft clearly mentions that they do not have such a service and do not call customers to conduct such checks.
