Can't Validate and my machine is now at risk. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to get through the genuine validation system. I bought my Pc from a reputable dealer with Windows XP Home installed. I've passed the test for validation but every time I try to download the validation software my machine simply locks up (for days ... I've tried it umpteen times).

I'm using Norton Rollback to get back to pre validation so I can run my system but have had to turn off automatic updates as this locks my PC up as well. This is not a satisfactory state of affairs. So what is wrong and what can I do about it?

I fully support the theory behind genuine validation but reading the other threads this system is a complete farce. Please help someone.

Can you run the diagnostics tool here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 and provide its output?
