Vista KMS key works fine, Windows 7 key refused RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a working KMS 1.2 server on Windows Server 2003.
It accepts our Vista key with no problems.

It always complains that our Windows 7 key is invalid.

    The error is the familiar

Error: 0xC004F050 The Software Licensing Service reported that the product key is invalid

We have an "Academic Alliance" MSDN subscription.

Please can you help us, or pass me on to someone who can?

    Many thanks!

  • Hello JulesFM,

I don't beleive that the keys given out to MSDN users are KMS keys and would not work in a KMS Server.  However, I work in consumer support and have very little knowledge in KMS or MSDN.

I recommed going to the MSDN Community Center http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/aa497440.aspx  You can find links to the MSDN Forums, Technical Chat and other resources that may be of use in solveing your issue.

Sorry I couln't be more help,
    Darin MS
