Advantage Kit not sent RRS feed

  • Question

  • I returned my two copies of Office 2003 to Microsoft after they failed validation. I have a receipt from the postal service dated 11-27-06 as being received at Microsoft. I have not received an email or the new kit.

  • Hi Bill,

Can I get some additional information regarding your issue?  When you say you returned your two copies of Microsoft Office 2003, did you purchase those copies directly from Microsoft?  Or by return, do you mean you submitted them through the counterfeit program as part of the validation failure?

What country are you located in?  Are you in the U.S.?

Once we get this information, I'll touch base with another one of our PM's here (Phil Liu) and have him look into this for you.

    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • I live in South Dakota, USA. The discs were returned to Microsoft as part of a validation failure. I filled out a piracy form and enclosed both invoices to show where I purchased the software (not Microsoft). I have  a scan of the discs that were sent to Microsoft and the return receipt scanned in but do not know how to attach them to this post. Thank you for responding so promptly.

  • Bill,

Did you obtain any word back from Microsoft one way or another?  It can take up to 4-6 weeks to have the evaluation vendor determine if the counterfeit copy of Office submitted was high quality or not.

    Please confirm.

    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • I did get an answer and it was that I was sent the incorrect version. I was sent a volume license version (genuine) but I am not qualified for that version. I was told I can order a new copy at reduced price but can not find the right place to order the product to get the reduced price. Can you give me a url to the ordering site.

    Hi Bill,

Thank you for following up and letting me know what happened, I appreciate that.

What you can do is this.  Click this link to validate your copy of Windows:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/Validate.aspx?displaylang=en - on the page that provides you information about the validation failure, you will see some of the options for obtaining genuine software.  There is an online option, or I think if you click the link to see 'all options' you can see all the potential options available for obtaining genuine software.

Just review the site and choose the option that works best for you.

Good luck and please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • The link was for validating Windows. I found the office validation site and failed again but was offered no information as to ordering at reduced price. What I did find was this:

For those customers who have failed Office validation and do not qualify for, or choose not to take advantage of, the complimentary offer, Microsoft will provide an Office Genuine Advantage Kit. This kit will be available for the following Office editions at special online prices:

    • Microsoft Office Professional Edition
    • Microsoft Office Small Business Edition
    • Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition

Where do I go, to order a Valid copy at the "special online prices"? Thanks for your help.

I have joined the open office group and say so long to MS Office.

  • Hi Bill,

I apologize for not replying sooner.  Unfortunately, the way my account is setup internally I do not get the 'alert me' ping backs from the forum so I was not aware that you replied.  I certainly hope you have not completely given up on Microsoft Office.  If you haven't and still want to consider it, you can follow these steps to see the online price available.

    1) From the PC that is failing Office validation, go to the validate Office link:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/Validate.aspx?displaylang=en

    2) From the web site failure page, you can expand the failure details (which will show which Office products failed validation; they will be shown in red).

    3) If you already know the failure details, there is a GET GENUINE NOW button available on the web page.

    4) Click the GET GENUINE NOW button.

    5) In the middle of the web page there should be a section (box) that has three tabs available.  Make sure the ONLINE OFFER tab is clicked.

    6) The ONLINE OFFER section will show you the price of the Office Edition available online.  There is a drop down which will also show which Office versions are currently available online.

The other tabs available are COMPLIMENTARY OFFER and OTHER OPTIONS.  I think that you may have already used the complimentary offer tab when you sent in your volume license media initially (but I could be incorrect).

I hope this information helps.  Please let me know and I hope you do accept my sincere apology.

    Thanks,
    Michelle

  • Thanks for trying to walk me through this like I'm three years old. But the bottom line is, I have no such button on any of the pages I have tried. This is what I see:

    Validation Results

This computer has failed validation. Expand for details.

Obviously not exactly correct, but you get the picture. You have all my information on file. Just have someone call or Email me. I do need assistance. Please. I would like to be legal again.

  • I received the following Email and it appears that this issue will finally be resolved satisfactorily.

    Dear Mr. Sports,

I am following up with you on behalf of Steve B****** regarding your concerns about validation with your copies of Office 2003. I have placed an order for 2 copies of Office 2003, which you should receive within 2 – 4 weeks, probably sooner.

I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and want to thank you for taking the time to share your comments. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Some one marked this as answered. Not me... I will mark it as answered when I receive the disks as promised. It has been 4 weeks and still no Disks. I will continue to wait for another couple weeks. This has been going on since November 2006.
