Remote Web Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having trouble accessing the remote web access externally.  I can access it fine internally.

My ISP blocks ports 80 and 443 so I setup forwarding from port 8080 to port 80 of my server IP and port 8043 to port 443 of my server IP.  I tested externally specifying port 8043 for https and it fails to find the site.  I then allowed http traffic to WHS and tried 8080 externally.  I was able to get to a logon screen but after supplying credentials I received an error: "Cannot connect to Remote Web Access. Please contact the person who manages the server."  Any suggestions?

  • I'm having the same issues where my ISP blocks those ports.  Has anyone with an ISP that blocks ports 80 and 443 successfully forwarded from a different port on WHS 2011?

  • Yes, Having the same problem here, there is a workaround:

give access to two new extra ports in WHS and in your router

    8080 for access to http

    8081 for access to https

all ports beneat 1423 are blocked by my isp, so I forwarded them

Dont forget to give access also in your firewall!
