Reinstalled XP on Dell laptop and now unable to start as cannot validate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had to reinstall XP on a Dell Inspirion laptop as Wondows was reporting file validation errors and told me to reinstall.

I used the Dell CD and it appeared to do a repair install rather than a complete fresh reload, but when I re-started the laptop it recognised my old users and when I logged in it told me that it needed to validate the software.

It had an internet connection but when it tried to validate the laptop just sits there.

An error comes up after a while, MSFEEDSYNC.

Screen just sits there with a blank Dell desktop and no ability to do anything.

    Help please.

  • Hello mpaneth,

It's possible that the problems that caused you to try a reinstallation of XP are still present and still creating problems on the computer.

Backup and offload your data and try a clean installation.

  • Hello mpaneth,

I agree with Dan.  If after you do a complete reinstall, you still have problems Activating or receive Non-Genuine messages, create a new thread and then download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into the new thread.

    Thank you,
