How to recertification my MCSD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I took the 3 MCP exams needed to get an MCSD in web application development 480, 486 and 487 in march of 2014.  My MCSD is marked as inactive on my transcript.  I have looked at the re certification exam (494) but it looks like this expired earlier this year (2017).  It looks like I need to complete the exams again to get the MCSD https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcsd-app-builder-certification.aspx.  However when I go to schedule my 486 exam at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/exam-70-486.aspx.  I get an error saying that Microsofts records indicate I've already passed the exam.  I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.  Do I need to retake the exams?

  • Your 480 and 486 exams should still count to get you MCSA: Web Applications.  That is the prerequisite for MCSD: App Builder.  All you need in addition to the MCSA is one elective exam per year to keep your MCSD: App Builder current.  You can see the list of available electives here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcsd-app-builder-certification.aspx

487 would have counted towards the elective requirement, but since you took that in the past you'll need to take a different elective.  As soon as you pass one new elective your MCSD: App Builder should be come active for this year.  Then you'll need to take something else next year to keep it active.
