After ripping DVD, how does one get the cover photo? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can rip a DVD just fine and get a MPEG file out of it. In my case, Spaceballs. I merge togetehr the .VOB files into one large file, and change the file extention to .MPEG. Copy the file to the Videos share, and it shows up and plays through WMP on my desktop system without issue.

How do I get the DVD cover art to show up representing the file, instead of the start of the MPEG file? I've tried dropping the file into "videos" by itself, I've also tried using a file called folder.jpg (per google searches), and still no dice. I created a subfolder called Spaceballs, moved the MPEG file there as well as the folder.jpg, and no dice. I've tried creating Spaceballs/VIDEO_TS and placing the MPEG file there, and both leaving the folder.jpg file in the Spaceballs folder, as well as moving it to the VIDEO_TS folder.

    Thank you for any guidance...

  • I believe the cover image will need to be embedded in the file's metadata for it to display the way you want.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
