How long will COM technologies be supported? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are an ISV with an application comprised of many COM components.  We are migrating this application to the .NET environment.  Our time line for completing this migration is 24-30 months (from September 2010) We have sales prospects that are concerned that Microsoft will stop supporting COM.  We have assured them that any existing technologies in currently supported Microsoft operating systems will be supported during the operating systems' life cycles, but they are convinced that Microsoft will pull the plug on COM in the next year or so.

Where do we find a definitive statement from Microsoft that states that COM will be supported as long as it is part of a supported OS?

    Thanks in advance
