Recently installed VISTA on my computer. Windows Live OneCare Backup config tries to convert my FAT32 backup driver to NTSF but fails and then refuses to save the configuration. XP would accept FAT32 after warning that NTSF better. Tried using instructions for FAT to NTSF but they don't work with FAT32 . Any ideas?
Hello sabia66, try using Windows to run the convert command. In Vista be sure to open the command window in Administrator mode. To do this in Vista type "cmd' in the search box, then when selecting it from the search results right click it and select "Run as Administrator". There is a nice guide to using the convert command in this KB article - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/307881Jim

The alternative (and safer) solution would be to copy any data from the external backup drive to another location and then format the external drive as NTFS before copying your files back to the drive. Convert is usually painless, but since you are already having problems with this, I'd be concerned about data loss. -steveMicrosoft MVP Windows Live / Windows Live OneCare Forum Moderator
