Hi all,
I'm in the process of upgrading a 3.0 system to 4.0. Windows 2003 std sp2 , HP Proliant ML 350.
I pulled the iso from MS "eopen" site. File is too large for 700MB cd's, so I installed magic iso to open the file. I go to the i386 make my way to the "SetupServer.exe" , double-click and I get the error message "setup cannot proceed because no bootstrap DLL is present"
here is a copy of the logfiles from the error
10:09:44| Info| Running C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~2.MEI\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\MagicISO_01C9E38B9E01E677\SetupServer.exe

10:34:09| Info| Bootstrap version: 4.0.7333.3.

10:34:09| Info| Running C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~2.MEI\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\MagicISO_01C9E38F25918C72\SetupServer.exe
10:34:09| Error| Setup cannot proceed because no bootstrap DLL is present in . (bootstrapwrapper.h:CBootstrapLibrary::Locate:314).Again the server had no DVD reader only CD. Any suggestions.
PS...I also tried to burn the image on a DVD just to see if the stars weren't aligned, and I could pull off something slick. No luck needless to say.

Try copying the files off of the ISO to a fixed disk. I have seen problems with VMWare and other ISO mounting tools where the files do not "read" correctly off the ISO or they read as 8.3 names only. Moving them to a real disk and verifying the files were the correct names (long names) and sizes fixed the issue.
Also consider downloading the Trial version of CRM (its the same thing)

You can then grab your license key from the DVD you downloaded (its in a text file)- Edited by Aaron E. _ Tuesday, June 2, 2009 3:59 PM More info

Thanks ProVega,
I took my dvd copy and did a side by side comparison with the iso file and everything seemed fine. I also downloaded another fresh copy of the iso from eopen just to make sure I had a nice copy.
I went on ahead and placed a support call in.
I didn't think about trying the trial iso. download. I'll give that a shot.Tuesday, June 2, 2009 4:08 PM -
