  • Question

  • Windows OneCare seems to feel that my home PC is on a network. I am not aware of it being connected to any network since I only own a single PC. Is there a way to verift whether this is indeed the case. Also, if I am on someone's network, how do I remove my PC from it?

  • I've moved your post to the Firewall topic as it is that part of OneCare that wants you to identify if your network is "Home or Work" or Public. Public is more restrictive and prevents File and Printer Sharing, for example. Since you have only a single PC, Public is an appropriate choice, particularly if you are directly connected to the Internet through a dial-up or cable/DSL modem. If you are connected to a router, which is in turn connected to a modem, then "Home or Work" is the appropriate selection.

  • Thank you! I'm still learning about lots of this stuff. Yjis has eased my concern considerably.
