Shutdown/Updates

    Question

  • In general overall I am impressed with the new operating system however being used to previous versions the first couple of times I shutdown the computer it did not shutdown. Little did I know the computer was fine and that it was just downloading updates before powering all the way down since it did not display a message to tell me that. I learned it from experience. Getting nervous about my new investment I disconnected the battery to shut it down. When I started it up again it displayed a message  in the notification area that windows did not finish downloading updates. Then I figured it out that it downloads when it is shutting down. It does display messages when it is configuring updates but not when it is downloading before shutting down. The other thing is it does shut down quickly when not downloading updates but there is a consistent quick message indicating that background programs still need to close before it shuts down, probably for less than a second. It does not hang for long enough to worry about but I wonder if it should do that every time I shut down the computer.
