    Hi Friends,

     

    We are in the midst of OCS implementation for a customer. For the same we need to understand what ramifications we will have if OCS 2007 SIP ID is different than primary SMTP address?

     

    Messaging environment is Exchange 2007. We have heard from Microsoft that it is not best practice to have SIP ID different than Primary SMTP address but there is no written documentation available that describes about what features we will not avail in OCS if SIP ID is different than Primary SMTP address e.g. Let’s say my Primary SMTP address is satpalk@hc.in  what issues I will have with OCS administration if my SIP id is satpalk@im.hcl.in

     

    An early response will be appreciated. In case you need to know any more details please mail me as well.

    Hi,

    It was my concern only,

    While deploying peoples who used different email smtp domain, it worked finally. We have added only SIP id dame as internal domain. It worked fine for me

    The biggest problem is confusing users who would attempt to contact people using their 'email' address.  If that is the functionailty you want, then it's possible, but it makes things like federation and PIC awfully clunky for users.

    Hi Jeff,

     

    Just to mention here that my satpalk@im.hcl.in is also included in the email addresses so it wont be a problem for users. When user try to send the email, address will resove to correct name only.

     

    I need to Microsoft backed up answer if any

    We have primary SMTP address different from SIP address. In this configuration there is problem with presence in outlook 2003 which does not work. We have also problems with the "send mail" feature in communicator 2007 which works only one time per user's session.

    If we put the same address for SMTP and SIP all is working fine.
