Backup running continous

Question
-
I am running onecare beta. Started tuneup first all went well. I made available an external drive for backup and configured backup to start next day. It did start and has been running continuously for two days. Since backup started the CareOne User interface window hangs when started. I cannot do anything with OneCare. I can't see files backed up nor can I restore because of the status of the user interface. Any way to intervene and stop the backup?? Its constantly using 40 to 45% of cpu performance. I do I get control of this short of uninstalling it??

Yes indeed. File a bug on Connect - https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=168
and see the bug submission guide for how to create the support logs and attach the zip file to your bug.
Thanks!

Do you see any activity on the external disk? Even if you do, it sounds like something is hung. I would suggest restarting the PC by performing a normal shutdown from the Start menu.

I've had this issue intermittently as well. I use an external harddrive for backups and have OneCare configured to backup each day at 5:00 am. Most days I see a report of a successful backup, but occasionally I see the backup icon in the system tray, and no activity on the external harddrive. When this is happening, I notice the following:
- I can't invoke OneCare by clicking on the backup icon or the OneCare icon in the system tray
- I can't invoke OneCare by going thru the Start menu (I get a partially rendered UI and then a hang).
I'll try to confirm this in the next day or two by starting backups w/Bittorrent on/off.

OK...left Bittorrent running overnight, backup hangs...turned off Bittorrent the next night, successful backup.
Any logs I can create that might help?
