Does CRM 2010 Outlook plugin work with the new CRM 2013? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are trying to get ready for our new roll out of CRM 2013. To do this we have a test account of 2013 and are trying to connect to it through a 2010 outlook client but we haven't been successful. Do we need to update all our computers to the new 2013 Outlook plug in to be able to connect to our CRM once it has been updated? Or is there another solution?

Here is part of the error code we are getting.

  • Hi,

According to MS documents CRM 2013 connector is supported for these versions of Outlook:

      Microsoft Office:
      • Microsoft Office 2013 (64 or 32-bit)
      • Microsoft Office 2010 (64 or 32-bit)
      • Microsoft Office 2007 (32-bit)

  • Are there any other orgs configured in this Outlook client? Such as older CRM 2011 orgs? If so, remove them and try configuring the CRM 2013 org with it being the only org.

Also, you may want to "test" the CRM Outlook connector using the version made for CRM 2013.  Although the 2011 client will work, it may lack some functionality.  Mixing versions should only be a temporary deal while upgrading the CRM server and then the clients.

  • Hi Janis,

The log only contains information and verbose log, it doesn't contain error.

What's the error it shows when you try to configure outlook client?

  • This is what the error tells me.

“cannot connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM server because we cannot authenticate your credentials”. We are using the same login ID and password which allows us to connect to the browser based CRM2013 hosted server
