Cannot delete an add-in from WHS on a HP Media Smart Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • A while ago a warning came up that I had not signed up to use the Tranquil PC AVA Software package that came as an add-in with the HP server. Also at that time the CPU started running at 100% making access virtually impossible.

I have tried using the Uninstall button but the system just hangs and although the add-ins' button has been removed from the top line of the WHS Console, it still remains in the installed add-ins screen in settings.

I am aware there is an issue with Twonky (overload of CPU) in that HP have not released the latest update for the last 6 months but I was wondering if the Tranquil unregistered notice and partial disapperance could also be causing problems.

    Very frustrated indeed.

  • Hi,

I think that package contains many components.  First thing I would do is try and reinstall the add-in, then go to the services console (you will have to RDP into your Windows Home Server) and disable any of the Tranquil Services (this should give you enough clear CPU to uninstall the whole thing).

    Good luck,
    Al
