Another - An Error in the Backup Service is Preventing Cleanup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've got the "An Error in the Backup Service is Preventing Cleanup" at 19% (note: Repair works fine) and after reading other threads have followed Ken Warren's advice to do a CHKDSK as per http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/whsfaq/thread/b5372407-1f24-4eff-9092-069c4b4f0cee

The thing is I keep getting CHKDSK reporting "replaced bad clusters in file 52 of name \DE\folders\{00008~1\DATA40~1.DAT" and it will be there next time as well, so I thought I'd see if I can copy the offending file and rename the original one as "name.bad" to see if Cleanup would then work OK.   The trouble is that with the short file name reporting there are 189 possible matches to "DATA40~1.DAT" files in this directory.  How do I know which one is the offending file?

    Thanks

    Nathan
